Description
Hand-Carved Wooden Folk Art – Jim Younger, a Confederate guerrilla and notorious American Old West outlaw, formed the James-Younger Gang alongside Frank and Jesse James, the gang met their demise during a botched bank raid, armed townspeople fought back and he was shot directly through the jaw, but managed to flee, following an intense manhunt, the gang was captured and sentenced to life in prison, he served 25 years, unable to adapt to his restricted freedom, he committed suicide in a hotel room in 1902, artist carved “VIT” in bottom, initials of a talented regional woodcarver that has deep roots in waterfowl decoy carving, the texture work on the clothing and boots strongly mimics the “feather texturing” techniques used by wildlife carvers to give wooden birds a realistic look before paint is applied, figurines have been in storage for 40 years, were going to be put on display at Donley’s Wild West Town, minor scuffs, good condition, 12″ x 6 1/2″
