Hand-Carved Wooden Folk Art – Jim Gyp, a Texas outlaw and gunfighter, was ambushed and shot down in a saloon plaza in Tucson, AZ, he walked out to the designated dueling ground near the Palace Hotel, however, Murphy had no intention of fighting fair, his accomplices stepped out from the shadows and opened fire before Levy could even draw his weapon, artist carved “VIT” in bottom, initials of a talented regional woodcarver that has deep roots in waterfowl decoy carving, the texture work on the clothing and boots strongly mimics the “feather texturing” techniques used by wildlife carvers to give wooden birds a realistic look before paint is applied, figurines have been in storage for 40 years, were going to be put on display at Donley’s Wild West Town, minor scuffs, good condition, 12″ x 6 1/2″
