Lot 2529:
Description
This exceptional 1889 chromolithograph by the renowned Chicago art publishers Kurz & Allison vividly depicts the “Battle of the Big Horn” (Custer’s Last Stand). Capturing the chaotic intensity of the June 25, 1876 conflict, this highly collectible piece of Americana showcases the firm’s signature dramatic styling and rich color palette. Housed in a handsome vintage wood frame, the backing retains a fascinating historical paper seal from Geo. Burmann Furniture & Funeral Director of Genoa, Ohio, adding a wonderful layer of Midwestern provenance. Mechanically and visually, the print is in impressive condition with minimal foxing, maintaining a clean presentation and remarkably vibrant colors, while the frame shows only minor age-appropriate scuffs and wear to the backing board. H 26.75″, W 33″, D 1″. Please see photos for condition.
