Lot 2489:
Description
This collection features a variety of traditional Plains-style artistry, including a small medicine pouch with a “spirit figure” and “greasy blue” trim, a green-ground knife sheath with metal tinklers, and a fringed black-and-white bag with a Maltese cross motif. Notable inclusions are a long, pink-beaded container featuring a flap opening and geometric accents and a 12-inch decorated wooden stick wrapped in red, white, and yellow beadwork. These items are crafted on brain-tanned leather using irregular glass seed beads applied in a classic lane-stitch or lazy stitch technique. The interior of the fringed bag shows the natural dark patina of the hide and the bent metal tangs of decorative brass studs. Condition varies across the lot; the green knife sheath shows visible bead loss and thread fraying, while the leather fringes on the larger bag exhibit age-related stiffness and surface scuffing. Individual measurements are as follows: knife sheath 10″ x 2.5″, black/white fringed bag 11″ x 3.75″, small spirit figure pouch 4.5″ x 3.75″, pink beaded container 17″ long, and the decorated wooden stick 12″ long. H 17″, W 4″, D 1″. Please see photos.
