Lot 2486:
Description
This charming seed bead coin purse or small clutch features vibrant turquoise blue ground with traditional geometric and representational motifs, including what appears to be a stylized bird or eagle and pipe/tomahawk imagery. Hand-stitched onto a hide or buckskin substrate, the piece is mounted to a vintage metal tension frame with a simple hide carry strap. The craftsmanship suggests an early to mid-20th-century souvenir or trade item in the Plateau or Plains style. The condition is fair to good; there is visible bead loss at the corners and edges where the thread has frayed, the metal frame shows oxidation and surface rust, and the hide strap is dry and heavily worn. H 3.25″, W 6.7″, D 0.5″. Please see photos.
