Lot 2475:
Description
A fantastic opportunity to acquire a pair of early American double-action Forehand & Wadsworth top-break revolvers from the 1880s or 1890s. The clear barrel markings, “FOREHAND ARMS CO. WORCESTER MASS U.S.A. PAT’D DEC. 7.86 & JAN 11.87,” dates the design and confirms the Worcester, Massachusetts, origin. After Wadsworth died in 1890, Forehand continued the company as Forehand Arms Co. until it was bought by Hopkins and Allen in 1902. They feature nickel-plated finishes and original hard rubber grips, which display the company’s trademark molded shield/star design. The have 2.25” round barrels, 6-shot cylinders, an auto eject feature, and are chambered in .32 cal. The overall condition is consistent with age and use, showing finish wear, including plating loss, cloudiness, and light pinprick oxidation. Both pieces triggers and actions are tight and function properly. The bores show oxidation, and the rifling is prominent on both. Please see photos for overall condition. Overall Length for each: 7.5” From Donley’s Wild West Town Museum. S/N 1:122541, S/N 2: 143550. Classified Antique.
