Lot 2328:
Description
These mid-to-late 19th-century tall leather boots feature the distinctive square-toe profile popular during the Civil War era. Constructed of heavy, hand-stitched leather with stacked wooden heels, they retain their original striped canvas pull straps and internal paper stuffing. Included is a rare pair of wooden boot jacks marked “WALKER PITTSBURGH”. The jacks are specifically stamped “4R” and “3L,” likely indicating specific sizing or directional use for the right and left boots. The leather shows significant age-related cracking, dry rot, and structural separation at the vamps and toe boxes; the wooden jacks show typical oxidation and smooth wear from use. H 15.25″, W 4″, D 12″ Please see photos.
