Description
This lot features two copies of A Complete Manual of the Edison Phonograph by George E. Tewksbury, originally published in 1897 by the United States Phonograph Company of Newark, New Jersey. The lot includes an exceptionally rare 1897 original first edition antique volume in its original cloth binding, featuring a beautifully aged portrait frontispiece of Thomas A. Edison with his facsimile signature. Alongside the antique original is a modern facsimile reprint published by G. L. Frow in Kent, England, preserving the invaluable historic technical text, diagrams, and preface for clean, everyday reference. The original 1897 volume shows significant antique wear, heavy scuffing, staining, and fading to the cloth cover, along with corner bumping and expected interior foxing/toning, while the modern hardbound reprint is in excellent, clean condition with minimal shelf wear.
