Phonograph Records And Books Auction - ONLINE ONLY
Lot 2004:
Description
This exceptional collection of six vintage reference books and historical fiction focuses on early phonographs and the talking machine industry. The lot includes The Illustrated History of Phonographs by Daniel Marty, The Victor Talking Machine Company by B. L. Aldridge (with an RCA Sales Corp. 1964 foreword), Talking Machines (Science Museum), and a limited edition copy of Victrola Record: The Collector’s Guide to Victor Records by Michael W. Sherman, which is hand-numbered 367 out of 500 and signed by the author. Also included are two early 20th-century volumes of Uncle Josh’s Punkin Centre Stories by Cal Stewart (“The Talking Machine Story Teller”), featuring a 1905 edition from Thompson & Thomas that includes a rare, bold fountain pen signature by Cal Stewart on the preface page. These pieces offer incredible historical insight for the advanced phonograph and talking machine enthusiast. The books show light shelf wear, minor corner bumping, and age-appropriate toning to the pages, but overall they remain in very good, structurally sound condition with clean interiors. H 5″, W 12″, D 10.25″. See photos for condition.
