Description
Edison Gold Moulded 2-minute record cylinder, produced by the National Phonograph Co. of Orange, New Jersey. Dating to the early 1900s, with a May 1, 1905 form date printed on the label, this piece represents an important milestone in acoustic recording technology. Accompanying the piece is a handwritten note indicating the recording title is “Sousa’s Band: Handicap March.” The cylinder itself is in stable condition with expected surface mold, remaining structurally sound with no detrimental cracks or breaks. The storage tube exhibits age-related wear, fading, and fraying along the edges, and is missing its original lid. H 4.5″, W 2.5″, D 2.5″. Please see photos for condition.
