Description
North American brown wax cylinder record. This rare late 19th-century North American Phonograph Company brown wax cylinder record blank comes complete with its original protective cardboard storage canister. According to the accompanying handwritten note, the cylinder contains an early acoustic recording of a faint piano with no spoken announcement, making it a fascinating piece of turn-of-the-century audio history. Objectively, the wax cylinder exhibits heavy surface mold and efflorescence throughout, which is common for organic wax compounds of this age, while the cardboard container shows expected surface wear and fading but remains structurally sound with no major cracks.
