Phonograph Records And Books Auction - ONLINE ONLY
Lot 1005:
Description
Brown wax phonograph cylinder record comes accompanied by its original cardboard storage canister and a handwritten note indicating a “North American blank” featuring a choral singing recording and a foreign announcement. A fascinating artifact from the late 19th to early 20th century audio pioneer era, this cylinder represents the dawn of commercial recorded sound. The wax cylinder exhibits significant surface mold bloom and organic efflorescence typical of its age, though it remains structurally intact with no visible cracks, while the protective cardboard canister shows moderate shelf wear and minor discoloration. H 4.75″, W 2.75″, D 2.75″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
