This brown wax phonograph cylinder record captures a fascinating glimpse into early recorded sound history, accompanied by its original cardboard storage canister. Likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, this style of cylinder represents the pioneering era of commercial audio recording prior to the dominance of flat disc records. The included handwritten note suggests a faint piano recording, potentially of German origin or associated with the historic North American Building?. Physically, the cylinder is in delicate condition, displaying prominent surface mottling, heavy discoloration, and a distinct vertical crack running down the side that will impact playability.
