The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3556:
Description
An exceptional find for the early phonograph enthusiast, this original turn-of-the-century paper ephemera set from the Kansas City Talking Machine Company (425 Delaware Street, Kansas City, Missouri) offers a fantastic glimpse into the early recording era. Dating to the 1900s decade as evidenced by the printed “190_” date line, the lot includes an unused mailing envelope advertising “The Blue Ones” American Disc Records and a matching 2-sided order blank detailing prices for Indian Records, brass horns, needles, and record carrying cases. A fascinating detail reveals a crisp embossed mark in the upper corner reading “Duane D. Deakins,” identifying it as a piece from the personal collection of the famed early audio pioneer, researcher, and discographer. Both pieces feature striking typography on period-correct tan paper stock. Objectively, both items are in excellent, unused structural condition with no tears or edge fraying, though there is a noticeable area of water staining across the center and lower edge of the order blank. Envelope: H 3.5″, W 6″, D 0.01″; Order Blank: H 9.5″, W 6″, D 0.01″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allan Koenigsberg collection.
