The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3538:
Description
This exceptionally scarce lot features three original, early 20th-century trade booklets dedicated to talking machine history, highlighted by a beautifully illustrated Globe-Wernicke Co. “Disc Record Cabinets” catalog from Cincinnati, a Columbia Grhophone Co. “Columbia Cabinets” catalog from Kansas City, Missouri, and a “Herzog Classified Disc Record Index” booklet. These pieces offer an incredible look into early audio history, featuring rich illustrations of sectional and standalone mahoand oak cabinetry designed to complement the era’s premier talking machines. The lot also includes a rare “Special Sale of Record Cabinets” flyer insert from the Columbia Grafonola Department on Fifth Avenue in New York. Physically, the Globe-Wernke and Columbia catalogs show light edge wear, minor toning, and period pencil annotations, while the Herzog index booklet exhibits more pronounced wear with a detached, chipped front and back cover. H 10.5″, W 8″, D 0.5″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
