The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3469:
Description
This exceptional trio of turn-of-the-century promotional booklets by the Columbia Phonograph Company offers an authentic glimpse into the dawn of recorded sound. The grouping includes a “Columbia Disc and Cylinder Graphophones” manual with an elegahorn phonograph illustration, a narrative booklet titled “The Graphophone Enters Everybody Everywhere” highlighting patents by Bell, Edison, Tainter, and Macdonald, and a detailed “Miscellaneous Parts and Supplies” reference sheet with original pricing. Collectors will appreciate the classic early 1900s typography, detailed engravings, and period-correct layouts that make these highly desirable pieces of talking machine history. Objectively, the pieces exhibit age-appropriate wear consistent with antique paper stock, including moderate toning, edge wear, minor creasing, and light staining; notably, the booklet featuring the parlor scene cover shows significant paper loss and skinning across its back cover. H 6″, W 3.5″, D 0.25″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
