Description

This lot features a rare pair of early 20th-century paper ephemera documents from the American Graphophone Company based in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The first document is a “Notice to Purchasers” agreement for Columbia Graphophones, Records, and Blanks, outlining strict retail price maintenance and patent restrictions with a pre-printed “190” date line. The second document is an unissued “Application for Position” form for the factory, complete with a detailed questionnaire reflecting employment practices of the era, carrying a pre-printed “191” date line. Both pieces represent a fascinating look into early corporate labor and anti-discounting retail practices during the phonograph boom. Both items show mild age-related toning, handling creases, and a prominent water or liquid stain along the lower-middle edge, though the printed text remains entirely legible. H 11″, W 8.5″, D 0.1″.
