The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3409:
Description
An exceptional pair of original early 20th-century paper promotional booklets for Thomas A. Edison’s pioneering phonograph cylinder records, manufactured by National Phonograph Co. in Orange, New Jersey. The first booklet, Form 490, is an “Edison Moulded Records Domestic Selections” catalog dated October 15, 1903, listing early cylinder prices and selections ranging from military bands to vaudeville-style “talking” records. The second booklet, Form No. 1000, is an ornate “Edison Gold Moulded Records American Selections” catalog containing titles up to November 1906, featuring a classic portrait of Thomas Edison flanked by neoclassical columns on its cover. Both ephemeral pieces exhibit light shelf wear, minor corner bumping, and natural age-toning typical of century-old paper artifacts, yet they remain remarkably clean, complete, and free of major tears or heavy staining. H 6.25″, W 3.5″, D 0.1″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allan Koenigsberg collection.
