The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3374:
Description
An exceptional continuation of early technological ephemera, this collection includes additional antique illustrated publication pages from April 1890 featuring the conclusion of Arthur V. Abbott’s narrative, “A Voice from the Past: The Phonograph’s Story,” alongside the text of “The Czar and the American Girl.” Exhibiting a classic late-Victorian magazine style on aged paper, page 508 displays a captivating woodblock-style illustration titled “The Phonograph Sings a Comic Song,” showing an older woman, two men, and a young girl listening intently through individual acoustic hearing tubes. Objectively, the pages show typical signs of age, including light yellowing, minor edge wear, foxing, and small staple marks along the left margin consistent with late 19th-century loose periodical leaves. H 11″, W 7.75″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allan Koenigsberg collection.
