The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3350:
Description
This Turn-of-the-Century phonograph record cabinet was purpose-built around 1900 to house Edison wax cylinders. The piece features a dark-stained wood construction—likely mahogany or oak—with decorative brass drawer pulls and distinctive carved claw feet. The six drawers contain built-in cardboard pegs, offering 42 dedicated slots per drawer for a total storage capacity of 252 cylinders. The cabinet shows an aged patina with surface scratches, scuffs, and finish wear appropriate for its era. Mechanically, the cabinet retains its original casters on the two rear legs, though the two front casters are missing. Structurally, the back panel exhibits minor lamination separation along the edge that can be re-glued, but it remains an intact and functional piece. H 36″, W 23.5″, D 20″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection. Note: Pickup/Transport required. Contacts available Post-Auction.
