The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3348:
Description
This exceptional American quarter-sawn tiger oak phonograph cylinder record cabinet, circa 1900, is a highly desirable piece of early sound-era furniture designed to store wax cylinder records for Edison or Columbia players. Built with a handsome paneled oak frame and resting on decorative carved claw feet, the cabinet features six spacious drawers adorned with their original, intricate cast brass pull knobs. Objectively, the piece displays moderate cosmetic wear consistent with age, including surface scratches, minor scuffs, water rings on the top panel, a prominent split along the veneer seam on the upper surface, and delamination on the back of the cabinet veneer. The interior drawers remain structurally sound and open and close smoothly, though they exhibit circular stains and indentations where the original cardboard cylinder peg holders were previously removed. H 35″, W 21″, D 20″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection. Note: Pickup/Transport required. Contacts available Post-Auction.
