Description

This lot features two vintage museum exhibition posters celebrating the history of recorded sound and the centenary of Thomas Edison’s invention of the phonograph. The the first poster was produced for the Science Museum in London, titled “The Trumpt Shall Sound,” and showcases an early phonograph with a horn from the EMI collection. The second poster, from the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., is titled “A Wonderful Invention” and chronicles the history of the phonograph from tinfoilthe LP. Both pieces are printed on paper, capture the mid-to-late 1970s aesthetic, and come housed in simple, gold-toned wood frames under protective glass. As visible across both images, the items are in stable, displayable condition, though both posters exhibit horizontal and vertical rippling and wrinkling beneath the glass along with minor scuffs and wear to the frames.
