Description

Most probably made by Hawthorne & Sheble as an aftermarket item, the oak cabinet features a hinged beveled glass top with glass on all 4 sides. One end has 5 drawers (4 locking, key included) and a locking door on the opposite end with adjustable shelf most likely for battery jars. It is our belief that this cabinet was made for an electric phonograph such as a Class M but can fit other Edison mechanisms. The cut out on top is currently 12” wide X 7.875”deep but a replaced piece of oak shows that the opening was originally 13.5” wide. The front and back of the cabinet is paneled and has oak bead corner trim some of which is missing (see pics). The cabinet stands on brass paw feet. All glass is good and the lid has a limit / restraint hinge to protect the lid hinges. Overall measures 30.25” wide, 16.5” deep, 43.25” tall. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
