Description
Edison Class M battery powered cylinder phonograph mounted in an oak Hawthorne & Sheble Co. cabinet with a hinged glass cover. Cabinet has 2 large locking drawers (with key) on the bottom for records with the wood pegs missing. 2 other smaller locking drawers and one small drawer for supplies. There is also a tall vertical locking door for battery storage. Has matching cast brass pulls on drawers and door. All 4 sides of the cabinet are paneled. The hinged glass cover has beveled glass on the top and all 4 sides and is in VG condition. The cabinet stands on cast brass paw feet. The Class M mechanism is complete with governor, motor, and switch mech. It sports a nickel finish Polyphone carriage with a Nov 9, 98 patent date. Both reproducers in the carriage are in good condition both with stylus. The bedplate has worn nickel plating. There is no belt but the electric motor turns by hand and the mandrel spins freely. There are no horns with the machine. Measures 30.75″ wide, 16.5″ deep, 44.5″ tall. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
