Lot 1197:
Description
Argentine Mauser 1891 Rifle & BayonetThis lot features a distinguished Mauser Modelo Argentino 1891 infantry rifle manufactured by Manufactura Loewe Berlin, complete with a leather sling and period bayonet. Produced between 1891 and 1896, this rifle is a superb example of German contract engineering for the Argentine military. It features matching serial number C6726 on the receiver, bolt, and walnut stock. As is common for these imports, the national crest has been “scrubbed” (professionally ground off) from the receiver ring. The accompanying bayonet is clearly marked “AS.FA” (Astillero Río Santiago) on one side of the pommel and “1732” on the reverse. The leather sling with a brass buckle remains in very good, live condition, adding a refined touch to this historic ensemble. The mechanical action is remarkably smooth, and the bore remains bright with strong, crisp rifling. Overall condition is very good; the rifle maintains a strong blued finish with minor thinning on the bolt handle, while the stock shows honest service wear with scattered shallow compressions. The bayonet blade is well-preserved with a clean edge and typical age patina on the hilt. H 7.5″, W 48.5″, D 3.5″. Please see photos for overall condition. S/N C6726. C&R Eligible.
