This is a magnificent, hand-carved Chinoiserie-style gong stand, likely produced in the mid-20th century for use in a theatrical or cinema setting. The top rail features an elaborate, high-relief carving of two serpentine dragons meeting at a central flaming pearl, rendered in a traditional red and gold polychrome finish with green accents. The horizontal bar is supported by two turned pillars flanked by carved kneeling attendants or guardian figures, all resting on sturdy splayed feet. The included metal gong, suspended by braided cords with decorative tassels, provides a deep, resonant presence characteristic of temple-style percussion. The craftsmanship suggests a custom-made piece designed for visual impact and dramatic flair.
