Lot 216:
Description
This is an exceptional example of a “Holland Dutch Arts & Crafts” style child’s rocker from the renowned Charles P. Limbert Company, originally based in Grand Rapids and Holland, Michigan, placing it among the most sought-after furniture of the era. Limbert’s work is celebrated for its distinctive departures from the stark Mission style, incorporating subtle design flourishes. Note the beautiful oak construction with a rich fumed or stained finish, a hallmark of high-quality early 20th-century design. The design features a sturdy frame with gently curved elements in the crest rail and the broad runners, which contrast nicely with the rectilinear spindles. The upholstered seat, which is a period-appropriate black material secured with dome tacks, shows a functional blend of comfort and utility. The piece is in very good antique condition; the wood displays a lovely aged patina with light surface wear and minor scuffs commensurate with age and use. The upholstery is intact and shows well. H 31″, W 23.5″, D 27.5′ (approximate based on seat depth and rocker length).
