Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1129:
Description
This is a very nice set of six prehistoric projectile points, likely curated from multiple archaeological contexts, as suggested by the varying styles, lithic materials, and visible collection markings. The collection includes notched and stemmed points, typical of the Late Archaic to Woodland periods, crafted from various dark chert and flint materials, exhibiting the classic bifacial percussion and pressure flaking of skilled knappers. The points are accompanied by visible collection inventory numbers and notations on their faces, such as “NEAR B 1A” and “BC,” which are important for tracing their provenance. The points are in generally good excavated condition, consistent with authentic artifacts, though they exhibit expected wear, small chips, and minor basal grinding from use, age, and recovery. The points are within the provided measurement range. H 2.25″, W 1″ (max est. for largest point). From the Native American display in Donley’s Wild West Town.
