Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1128:
Description
This is a very interesting lot of six prehistoric stone projectile points and blades, likely spanning the Paleo-Indian through Archaic periods, each exhibiting distinct knapping styles and material choices. The collection features a variety of chert and flint materials in shades of tan, brown, and dark gray/black. Notable pieces include a large, possibly broken base, bifurcated-base point, a finely flaked dark gray blade, and a broad, notched base piece that may be a large scraper or hafted knife fragment. The presence of several distinct styles suggests this is a curated collection representing different eras. The points are in generally good, relic condition, though several show evidence of original breakage or damage, particularly the one with a broken tang, and the large notched base piece which is incomplete. Visible hand-written collection numbers are present on several pieces. H 3.5″, W 2.5″, D 0.5″ From the Native American display in Donley’s Wild West Town.
