Description
Northern Plains Indian pipe carved from black Steatite stone with Catlinite and lead geometric inlay. The pipe bowl is predominately vertical, with the horizontal base being shorter than it is tall. The bowl has Catlinite and lead inlay decoration throughout. The stem is wooden and is predominately flat with two spiral twists. The wood hue is red and has pressed file and stippled accents throughout. Good condition. Scuffs on bowl commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 31.5” long x 1.75” wide overall. Pipe effigy: 3.25” tall x 2.25” long. Stem 29” long. A brass wire runs through the pipe from mouthpiece to the bowl for mounting vertical on a wall. See photos.
