Description
Paiute water vessel circa 1970s. Known as a tus this tightly woven basket made from plant fibers and was traditionally used by Paiute people for carrying water. It looks to have resin between the fibers which allow it to be waterproof. The neck and rounded body with a leather strap attached for carrying. This vessel as is the fashion four of them has a pointed bottom to prevent spilling and is considered both utilitarian and artful. Dimensions: 8” tall. 7” at widest point with approximately 4.5” diameter base. Spout opening 1”.In excellent condition. Please see photos.
