Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1013:
Description
Circa 1910 Navajo blanket/rug featuring a bold, stepped brown diamond with a dark cross, outlined in faded red (now looks pink). Symmetrical dark geometric motifs flank the center on a creamy field, bordered in faded red (pink). Tightly woven with natural wool and dyes, reflecting early 20th century Navajo artistry. Plain selvage edge on piece. The condition of the weave is good with the only concerns being the fading of the original dyed design aspects. Small tag affixed via staple to corner. Illegible writing on it. Dimensions: 58” x 39”. See photos.
