October Fall Classic
Lot 2168a:
Description
A fantastic Art Deco lighted advertising clock, made by the renowned Neon Products Inc. of Lima, Ohio. This piece has a wonderful Streamline Moderne design, resembling a ship’s porthole with its round shape and rivet-style details. It’s a double-advertisement piece, promoting the nationally known Elgin Watches and the local “Rice Jewelers,” which was located at 436 E. Grand Ave. in Chicago’s River North neighborhood. The clock is in well-used, as-found condition. The metal can has scuffs and paint loss, and the reverse-painted plastic bezel shows areas of flaking. The clock face has some visible cracking in the paint. It does not work when plugged in.
Dimensions: 16″ diameter x 4.5″ deep.
