Vtg Indian Motorcycle Jacket & Sweater
A phenomenal pairing of vintage Indian Motorcycle brand outerwear, likely from the post-war era revival of the brand, reflecting the popular style of the day for motorcycle club and racing gear. The lot includes two distinct pieces: a striking yellow and brown letterman-style jacket and a gray knit button-front sweater. The jacket features a bright yellow wool body, contrasting dark brown leather sleeves, a cream-colored knit collar and cuffs, and a brown quilted lining. The front zips up, with two angled slash pockets. The sweater is a button-down cardigan style, made of a medium weight gray knit fabric with two flap-closure chest pockets, a burgundy collar and matching cuffs/waistband, and “Indian” embroidered over the left pocket. The inner label of the jacket clearly reads “Indian Motorcycle, Est. 1901, Springfield, Mass.” and indicates a size M. The jacket measures approximately 23″ across the chest and 29″ tall. The sweater, which measures 20″ across the chest and 27″ tall. Both items show age-appropriate wear consistent with vintage outerwear. The yellow jacket has minor soiling on the cuffs and main body, and a small puncture/snag in the knit waistband. The leather sleeves show creasing and some light scuffs but remain supple. The gray sweater shows heavier wear, with notable soiling and moth holes or snags in the knit fabric, especially around the collar and cuffs, typical of a well-worn period garment. The overall condition of the set is good for its age, with the jacket being in better preserved condition. H 29″, W 23″ (jacket), H 27″, W 20″ (sweater). See photos.
