Description
This is a fantastic vintage Bates Leathers two-piece motorcycle race suit, a classic example of custom-tailored speed apparel from the famed California manufacturer. The suit comprises a jacket and matching pants, both constructed from black leather with striking yellow and white leather diamond-patterned stripes running down the front of the jacket, sleeves, and sides of the pants. The style is quintessential cafe racer or dirt track, featuring a mandarin collar on the jacket and zippered cuffs on both the jacket and pant ankles, alongside quilted padding details on the jacket’s elbows/shoulders and the pants’ knees/rear. The internal tag clearly identifies the manufacturer as “TAILORED BY… BATES CALIFORNIA” with the pants size marked 36/30 and the jacket size noted as 44L. The condition is used, consistent with vintage riding gear, showing overall softening and creasing to the leather, visible scuffs and dirt marks, particularly on the white/yellow leather strips, and general wear to the lining, though all major components like zippers appear intact.
