Description
This is a fantastic lot of vintage automotive chrome emblems and hood ornaments, appealing to any collector of mid-century Americana and car memorabilia. The collection includes four distinct pieces: a highly desirable Mid-1960s Ford Mustang (1966?) grille running horse emblem (in its rectangular chrome housing, approximately 10″ wide), a bold 1951-1953 Dodge Ram hood ornament (approximately 11″ long), an iconic V-shaped “Willys” logo which is likely from an early 1950s Willys Aero (approximately 5.5″ wide), and a large, sleek, jet-age styled hood ornament which appears to be from a 1955 Mercury model (approximately 13.75″ long). All pieces exhibit the expected wear and patina of salvaged chrome from this era, including pitting, surface rust, and overall grime. Mid-1960’s Mustang Grill insert: 10″ wide, 4″ tall, 3.5″ deep. 1950’s Aero WIllys Emblem: 5.5″ wide, 5.25″ tall, 2″ deep (minus armature). 1951-53 Dodge: 11″ long, 5.5″ wide, 3″ tall. 1955 Mercury: 13.75″ long, 10″ wide, 2.5″ tall (minus armature).
