Description
4pc Mid-Century Hood Ornaments This is a fantastic collection of four mid-century automotive hood ornaments, showcasing the iconic “Jet Age” styling prevalent in the late 1940s through the 1950s. The lot includes chrome-plated items that appear to be from various manufacturers, with designs strongly emphasizing sleek, aerodynamic, and futuristic themes. Based on the style and typical dimensions, the collection is reminiscent of period pieces like the long, streamlined form of a 1949 Oldsmobile Rocket, the delta-wing shape akin to a 1951 Ford Jet, the complex stylized ship design found on a 1949 Plymouth, and a more upright, finned piece like a 1952 Hudson Terraplane. They are constructed of chromed metal, typical of the era. The grouping is currently displayed on custom-made metal stands which are included as presentation aids. Condition is well-loved vintage, with heavy pitting, surface rust on the stands, and overall plating wear consistent with age and exposure to the elements; they have a desirable “barn-find” look.
