October Fall Classic
Lot 1173c:
Description
A fantastic pair of heavyweight antique typewriters representing a fascinating clash of early 20th-century technology. First is a Smith Premier No. 2, a classic “blind writer” where the typebars strike the platen from below, hiding the text from view. It features a full double keyboard with separate keys for upper and lower case letters. The second is the iconic Oliver No. 9 batwing, a revolutionary “visible writer” with its dramatic U-shaped typebars striking down from the sides. Both machines are in as-is, unrestored condition perfect for display or a restoration project. Smith Premier measures: H 10″, W 14″, D 15″. Oliver measures : H 11″, W 15″, D 14″.
