Description

World War II German K98 Rifle with serial number 9600. Produced in 1940 at Mauser’s Borsigwalde Plant in the suburbs of Berlin, this 8mm Mauser rifle displays the desirable “P/243/1940” markings on the receiver. A Russian captured rifle, the barrel displays the “X” mark on the left side of the receiver, and the metal parts have the distinctive, thick, glossy black re-blued finish. Many of the small parts serial numbers do not match including the bolt (which does have a Waffen mark), a common trait of Russian captured rifles, and they are electric penciled to match the main receiver’s serial number. The German Nazi proof marks have not been peened off. Stock is good condition, with visible dings and nicks from field use. It displays the receiver serial number “9600” on the butt and has a flat butt plate. This is a hard to find, early production rifle with the desirable markings. Great for a collector or serious re-enactor. Please see photos for overall condition and markings.
