Description
This rare “Sheble and Fisher PHILA” marked M1840 light artillery saber is a real beauty. Still has its original leather washer, the leather grip has cracks and typical darkening from age. The brass wire wrap is present and firm. Steel scabbard is stamped “H” on throat and drag. Measures 40-1/2″ long in scabbard. Sword 38″ long and blade 33″ to brass guard [with number “8” stamped on guard]. Blade is bright and well maintained. It is hung from a modern manufacture Union officer M1851 sword saber belt and buckle [Stamped HP 1990 on back].
