US Civil War Model 1840 Cavalry Sword with Scabbard. The ricasso is marked “Curdts”, and on the reverse is “Solingen”. The grip is tight, and the leather is 85% complete. The twisted wire wrap is 100% complete. The blade is straight and bright. The scabbard is solid overall with no dents/dings and has evidence of a gold paint throughout the surface [G.A.R. Hall relic at some point in its history?]. The leather washer is present and nearly complete. Length of the blade is 35 7/8″ (1 3/16″ wide and 5/16″ thick), the sword is 41 3/8″, and in the scabbard it is 43 1/8″. This sword was part of the Civil War and Indian Wars display at Donley’s Wild West Town Museum for 45 years.
