Description
Model M1851 belt buckle worn by U.S. officers during the Civil War. Measuring 3-1/2″ wide by 2-1/8” tall. Solid cast bronze. Officer buckles had the wreath cast in the design, not applied like NCO’s. Central image of 13 stars with rays above and right-facing eagle below “E Pluribus Unum” banner on a pebbled background. Both parts of the buckle have “75” stamped on the back of each. Overall condition is excellent. This buckle was part of the Civil War and Indian War display at Donley’s Wild West Town Museum for 45 years.
