Lot 8:
This belt and buckle set is marked on the leather “Co. B. 1st INF” above “51” which may be for the New York 51th Infantry. Buckle appears to be the plate 618 from O’Donnell & Duncan buckle book. The bottom of separating applied wreath has broken off at bottom and shows much age and heavy wear. Back of 3.375″ x 2″ buckle is stamped “807” and has crudely scratched name. The keeper is marked with stamped “E”. As currently hooked up from buckle tip to end of keeper is 35.5″. Leather shows crazing and brass fittings have some green verdigris. Leather not dried out and very flexible.
