Civil War Auction
Lot 9:
Buckle has the three piece eagle and appears to be like plate 617 of O’Donnell & Campbell Book. The buckle has bench mark 563 back edge. The keeper is unmarked. There is a 12″ part of the belt near buckle with a very well done restoration entailing the adding of thin layer of modern leather to keep the original leather from breaking and reinforce the leather. It is so well done, you hardly see it. The condition is good to good plus because this rig can still be worn with a uniform torso or mannequin with care. Leather has some rough edges from flaking and fittings have a lot of green verdigris. However, this one is still sturdy for display options.
