Civil War Auction
Lot 12:
Sword is made from a US 1840 Musician’s Sword. It is 15″ long and blade has “Bowie” shaped tip. It is not very sharp and has darkened from old rust pitting and age. No visible maker’s mark and crossguard has been cut back. Handle is slightly loose and there is very old solder at base of blade, pommel and handle. Has very pleasant overall patina. This type of cut down was well known to be a CSA way to re-purpose captured and broken Union swords.
