Civil War Auction
Lot 11:
This sword is marked on the ricasso “COLLINS & CO” over “HARTFORD” over “CONN”. The other side is dated 1862. The blade is very bight with no nicks. The tip is good. The brass handle and crossguard show wear and age and have very nice patina. The scabbard brass throat has old sticker and tape marks and scabbard tip has some dents and is missing one screw. There is a complete break of the leather in middle and is held together this black electrical tape. Overall, this sword is in fair condition only because of the scabbard issue. However, the sword and blade are in near excellent condition. The scabbard is worth repairing for sure.
