Victor Early Style Disc Phonograph with rare Paper Mache Horn. This machine in its mahogany cabinet has its original finish which has been carefully cleaned and conserved and is lightly crazed. The entire cabinet has been lightly recoated as part of the conservation process. In overall very good condition. This machine is of the earliest production and the ID tag bears the Arabic numeral 6 as opposed to the Roman Numeral VI which later became their standard nomenclature. Has an early and rare gold Victor round hole exhibition reproducer with a rare and unusual spring release for needles. Replacement rubber back flange and the tone arm has its original gold plating in good condition with two minor dents at the rear of the tone arm. See photos. The back bracket has original black paint and pinstripes in good condition. Original horn elbow hold down and thumb screw and its correct early (pin limit style) gold plated horn elbow in good condition with some minor wear. Original bullet brake, original cast iron (ball bearing) style yielding turntable with a replacement belt. Original slotted winding crank as well as an early style nickel plated three spring motor. The machine winds, runs and plays. Also included is an ultra rare Victor 24"L paper mache horn with a 17" D bell. The body of the horn has its original black paint and horn decals with some minor shrinkage cracks at the back side of the large end. The small end of the horn has evidence of having been repaired but presents well. The inside of the horn with its red paint has evidence of having been professionally restored and repainted yet presents well. The cabinet measures 15-1/2 X 15-1/2 X 8-1/2" T. This is a nice example of a hard to find machine. A must have for the serious collector.
