Guns & Militaria
Lot 2012:
Brought to us right from a local estate, It is the Prussian 7th Uhlan Regiment officer’s helmet. The interior is unmarked and the exterior shows heavy crazing and front visor is coming unstitched but is held in place by the two side rivets. Helmet shows no trace of any cockades. Scale chinstrap is surprisingly complete but somewhat dry and stiff with an even bronze colored patina which looks quite appealing. There are some light pencil markings of unknown meaning to silk lining. A very old red tassel had been added many years ago and is not original to helmet. The body is misshapen in the back but is supple enough to block back into shape. Mortar board is tilted forward and appears to be able to gently and carefully be readjusted back to proper position. Overall condition is fair and has some restoration needs, however, this is one of the rarest of czapkas in the arena of field used Imperial German head gear.
