Guns & Militaria
Lot 2011:
Helmet is an M40 with about 60% of SS decal. There’s no evidence of the party shield decal ever being on helmet. Helmet shell is marked “E66” over “S0911” back of inside rim. Helmet band has DRP stamping to outer area of band and is held in place with front, 2 of 3 brads and still has bits of gray felt liner pad and helmet liner leather. Has short buckle side of chinstrap. Below the decal, there are two shrapnel damage points. One nick to rim and one half inch shrapnel hit that doesn’t pierce shell. Inside of shell shows rust and wear and exterior shows hard use and wear. This is from same Chicago estate as the M35 single decal helmet in this auction.
