Hand-Carved Wooden Folk Art – Curly Bill Brocius, a notorious American Old West outlaw, rustler, and gunfighter, leader of the Cochise County Cowboys who clashed with the Earp brother and Doc Holliday, following the shootout at the OK Corral, Wyatt Earp hunted down the Cowboys, he famously marched directly through a hail of gunfire and blasted Curly Bill in the chest with a double-barreled shotgun, thus capturing his surprised stance, artist carved “VIT” in bottom, initials of a talented regional woodcarver that has deep roots in waterfowl decoy carving, the texture work on the clothing and boots strongly mimics the “feather texturing” techniques used by wildlife carvers to give wooden birds a realistic look before paint is applied, figurines have been in storage for 40 years, were going to be put on display at Donley’s Wild West Town, minor scuffs, good condition, 12″ x 6 1/2″
